2011 Summer English Exam part B

LICENSING EXAMINATION – TOUR GUIDE COURSE

Part B – Total of 70 Points

Time allotment for this section of the examination: two and a half hours.

Choose one of the following three groups and plan a tour for it.

Group No. 1

A group of Israelis (ages 45-50) interested in Jewish settlement and the Zionist Enterprise in modern times, in the area of the northern valleys, the Lower Galilee and Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee).

The tour departs Afula on Monday at 08:00 and ends at Bet She’an on Tuesday at 19:00.

Please note:

  1. The tour should be limited to the designated area on the map and included the following regions: one day in the valleys (can be divided between the two days), one-half day in the Lower Galilee and one-half day in the vicinity of Lake Kinneret.
  2. The elaborated point must be related to the tour theme.

Group No. 2

A group of water engineers from the United States interested in the technology of water installations and projects in Israel in the past and today.

The tour will take place in the coastal plain, mountain region and Jerusalem. The tour departs from Caesarea on Monday at 8:00, and ends on Tuesday in Jerusalem at 19:00.

Please note:

  1. The tour must include at least two ancient water projects or installations and one current water project.
  2. The tour should be limited to the designated area on the map and included the following regions: the Coastal Plain, the Judean Mountains and Jerusalem.
  3. At least one-half day should be spent on the Coastal Plain and one-half day in Jerusalem.
  4. The elaborated point must be related to the tour theme.

Group No. 3

A group of Orthodox pilgrims from Greece and Russia interested in sites in the Judean Desert, Jordan Valley and Jerusalem. The tour begins in Arad on Monday at 08:00 and ends in Jerusalem on Tuesday at 19:00.

Please note:

  1. The tour should be limited to the area on the map and dedicate the first day to the Jordan Valley and Judean Desert (no more and no less) and the second day to Jerusalem (no more and no less).
  2. The elaborated point must be a religious site holy to Orthodox pilgrims.
